About LMAST4MC

The Laurea Magistrale in Atmospheric Science and Technology for Meteorology & Climate (LMAST4MC) is a two-year international Master of Science (MSc) program in Physics (class LM-17), offered jointly by Sapienza University of Rome and University of L'Aquila.

The program aims to train students with a strong background in atmospheric science, combining physics and engineering approaches. It offers an interdisciplinary education covering both the scientific understanding and technological tools used to study the atmosphere, weather, and climate.

LMAST4MC is managed by four university departments:

The program was officially approved by the Italian Ministry of Education in June 2018 (D.M. 459/2018), with its administrative headquarters located at the University of L'Aquila.

LMAST4MC as an opportunity

Stages for carrying out the master thesis are also foreseen through agreements with regional and national meteorological services as well research institutes and companies. The program emphasizes system-related and interdisciplinary aspects aiming at forming professional expertise as meteorologist, climatologist, forecaster, atmospheric scientist, remote sensing scientist, and environmental physicist. LMAST4MC is closely linked with research and innovation activities in the Italian and international job-market context related to:

Courses

The LMAST4MC graduate can obtain the Statement of learning curriculum conformity to the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) Recommendation n. 1083 “Guide to the implementation and education and training standards in meteorology and hydrology”, officially approved by the WMO National Permanent Representative on 23 May 2018 (M.D. ARM002 0033985) and fulfilling the Basic Instruction Package for Meteorologists (BIP-M).

International Collaborations and Mobility

LMAST4MC has agreements with several international universities and international institutions. Exchange of master students, opportunity of master theses and joint courses are foreseen.
