An isolated minimum (cold drop) moving retrograde from the Balkans, in a south-westerly direction, will enter the Mediterranean basin starting from this morning, favoring the influx of cold continental air from the East on our Peninsula. It will position itself on the upper Tyrrhenian Sea during the day bringing widespread rains and thunderstorms especially on the Adriatic and Ionian regions.
Tuesday 17 September. Today will open with mostly cloudy skies across the region. From early afternoon, there will be widespread precipitation, including thunderstorms, which will impact more consistently on the central-eastern strip of the region. On the western sectors, the phenomena will be less intense and localized on the main reliefs of the Apennine chain. Large clearings are expected in the evening on the western sectors. Phenomena ending during the night, also along the coastal sector. Temperatures slightly decreasing in both maximum and minimum values. Moderate wind and mainly from the south-east along the coast; variable direction and weak intensity in the inland areas. Rough to very rough sea.
Wednesday 18 September. Tomorrow, after a brief respite in the morning, with clear or irregularly cloudy skies, there will be an increase in cloudiness during the day starting from the western sectors and extending to the entire region. Local precipitation is expected, even of a stormy nature, which, starting from the inland areas, will extend to the Adriatic side. Large clearings are expected in the late evening. Maximum temperatures slightly increasing; minimum temperatures stationary. Weak and variable ventilation in the inland areas, medium intensity, mainly from the east in the morning and rotating from the south from the afternoon along the coast. Rough to very rough sea.
